From the Desk of…

Photos of desktops.

An Asian Art Collector, Medievalist, Wine Writer…

There used to be a section at the back of a magazine, I think it was Town & Country, that had one-page with a photograph of a collection of related items. I think it was usually done as a flat-lay photo. It was themed, so for example, travel related items or souvenirs from a far-flung trip, that sort of thing.

Anyway, when I ran across these, I always loved them and years later they inspired me to start a photograph series of my own; one which captures my version of desktops for people with interesting occupations or hobbie.

An explorer's desk with camera.

Photographer, art collector…?

They’re more cinematic than real-life…the latter would surely be much better organized.

Wine books and bottles.

My version of a wine writer’s desk.

At any rate, after I finish the photographs (or it may be an ongoing project), I’ll use them for illustrative reference and perhaps turn them into ‘art’ cards. Art cards being mostly what I produce in that they don’t have a specfiic purpose as, say, a birthday card would.

I’ve already started on the wine desk. I’ll need to change out all the labels because, you know, copyright and trademark, but that’s okay, at least I got to drink the real thing:)
